Shower drain repair
Seal a 2″ drain pipe into the hub of a shower drain body. No lead, no oakum and no glue.
A ribbed gasket that drives into the drain body. It fits over a 2″ DWV plastic, Sch 40, steel or extra-heavy cast iron pipe and seals it into the shower drain body. Use it to replace an old lead joint or a worn gasket.
Pick the one that matches your shower drain body.
For 2″ shower drain bodies
Fits 2″ shower drain bodies such as Kohler, plus older drain bodies listed in the FAQ below.
For one-piece molded shower bases
A larger gasket for Mustee and Owens Corning one-piece molded shower bases.
Cut the 2″ pipe to extend 1-1/4″ into the drain body, centered. The pipe ends up even with the top of the gasket (except Armstrong drain bodies).
Lubricate the gasket with soap solution and stretch it over the pipe, letters facing up.
Push it into the joint, then use a hammer and caulking tool (or a 1/4″ x 3/4″ x 6″ piece of wood). Work around the gasket with a series of blows until it bottoms out.
Plug the drain, fill the shower with water and check for leaks before you cover the connection.
If the gasket goes in by hand alone, it isn’t compressed and will leak. Drive it all the way down.
