Pipe access and plug
A watertight, reusable access point for 3″–6″ plastic and cast iron pipe when a cleanout isn’t available. Core a 2-1/8″ hole, insert the plug and tighten with a 6mm Allen wrench.
The problem
When there’s no cleanout near the problem, getting a cable or camera into the line means working from wherever you can get in. Access Point puts a sealed entry right where the work is. Drill one hole, fit the plug, and it’s there the next time the line needs attention.
A 2-1/8″ hole saw makes the opening. No cutting out a section of pipe.
Tighten with a 6mm Allen wrench to expand the seal inside the pipe.
Loosen the bolt to get back into the line for the next cleaning or inspection.
Sits close to the pipe, with minimal protrusion.
A first step or a lasting one
Access Point works both ways. Put it in to get a sewer camera into the line, show the customer what’s actually there, and let the footage drive the next step. Whatever they choose, the opening is sealed.
Install Access Point where there’s no cleanout to work from.
Run the camera and find out what’s causing the problem.
Buildup that jetting clears. Roots or a damaged section that calls for a PipePatch point repair, lining or a dig-up. A full-size cleanout for the long haul.
If the customer goes with a formal cleanout, Access Point has done its job. If not, it stays in as sealed, reusable access for next time.
The workaround
Made for the job
How it seals
The plug goes into the hole with its seal following the curve of the pipe. Tightening the bolt expands the EPDM seal against the pipe for a watertight connection.
Where it works
Designed for 3″–6″ cast iron and plastic pipe in sanitary and storm sewer DWV applications, residential and commercial.
Access partway up a stack or downpipe.
On buried cast iron, right where the line needs the work.
Low on a stack, with a low profile close to the wall.
Installation
Step 1
Decide where the Access Point goes and mark it.
Step 2
Use a sharp 2-1/8″ hole saw. Remove any burrs and wipe the inside surface clean.
Step 3
Fit it so the curve of the seal follows the curve of the pipe.
Step 4
Secure it with a 6mm Allen wrench to 53.1 in-lb.
Cutting cast iron? Use a coolant to ease cutting and prolong the life of the hole saw.
Reopening the line? Don’t fully remove the screw. The compression plate could fall into the pipe.

No. The expanding EPDM seal makes the connection. No adhesives, tape or sealants are needed.
Yes. Loosen the bolt with the 6mm Allen wrench to remove the plug. Don’t fully remove the screw, because the compression plate could fall into the pipe.
