Fernco Dishwasher Drain Connector
Dishwasher Drain Connector
Connects your dishwasher drain hose to a garbage disposal, a dishwasher branch tailpiece or an air gap. Fits most dishwasher hoses, smooth or corrugated.
Make the hose fit
New dishwasher, old connection. The drain hose often doesn’t match the disposal inlet or the branch tailpiece, and a clamp alone won’t seal it. This flexible connector closes the gap and seals both ends.
As it comes, it’s 1/2″ x 3/4″. Cut off the narrow end at the step and it’s 3/4″ x 3/4″.

Fits 5/8″ and 7/8″ O.D. connections.
No glue or special tools. Tighten the clamps with a hand screwdriver or nut driver. No power tools.
Seals smooth or corrugated dishwasher hose.
Flexible PVC with 200 series stainless steel clamps.
Cut to fit
One connector, two ways to use it. Measure across the outside of what you’re connecting to.
1/2″ x 3/4″
3/4″ x 3/4″
- 5/8″ O.D. Smaller dishwasher drain hoses. The narrow end goes on the hose.
- 7/8″ O.D. Most garbage disposal dishwasher inlets and branch tailpiece outlets, and larger hoses. Air gap ports vary by brand.
Cut straight around, flush with the step, using a sharp utility knife.
Where it goes
The connector joins the hose to whatever the sink drain has for a dishwasher.
Most disposal dishwasher inlets are about 7/8″ O.D. With a 7/8″ hose, cut off the narrow end so both ends fit 7/8″. On a new disposal, knock out the inlet plug first.
Connects to the side outlet of a dishwasher branch tailpiece or wye, above the trap. Narrow end on a 5/8″ hose, wide end on a 7/8″ outlet.
Connects the hose to an air gap where local code requires one. Air gap port sizes vary by brand, so measure the port before you install.

Common questions
Will it fit my dishwasher hose?
It fits most dishwasher drain hoses, smooth or corrugated. The ends fit 5/8″ and 7/8″ O.D. connections. Not sure? Reach out with your measurements.
Which end goes where?
The narrow end goes on the hose and the wide end goes on the drain fitting, so the water flows from smaller to larger. The narrow end fits 5/8″ O.D. and the wide end fits 7/8″ O.D. If the hose is 7/8″ too, cut off the narrow end at the step.
I don’t have a garbage disposal. Will it work?
Yes. Connect it to the side outlet of a dishwasher branch tailpiece or wye on the sink drain. It doesn’t clamp onto the 1-1/2″ drain pipe itself.
Do I still need an air gap or a high loop?
Usually one or the other. Some areas, such as California and Minnesota, require an air gap. Others allow a high loop. The connector doesn’t replace either. Follow your local code and your dishwasher’s installation instructions.
Why won’t my dishwasher drain after I hooked it up?
On a new garbage disposal, check that the dishwasher inlet plug was knocked out. Also check that the hose isn’t kinked.
Why does the package say 1/2″ x 3/4″?
Those are the nominal sizes. Measured across the outside of the part it slides over, the ends fit 5/8″ and 7/8″.
